Solmaira Valerio is a North Philly native photographer and musician.
They studied photography at the Community College of Philadelphia and graduated with a BA in Journalism and a minor in Clinical Psychology from Temple University.
Solmaira is a portrait, music, editorial, and documentary photographer. Their family history and cultural roots play a pivotal role in their work. They aim to capture the energy, vulnerability, and authenticity of the people and communities in her photographs. Utilizing her art to challenge stereotypes and stigma that oppress marginalized communities. Centering on self expression, human rights, mental health, gender, domestic violence, and accessibility to resources.
